THE OVERTONES

-Catherine Evans, Chris Thomas, Tim Barker, Gruffydd Rees and Owain Evans. All former pupils of Amman Valley School. The five worked closely together during the school's musical performance following the life of Elvis Presley. Chris, Owain and Tim as members of the live band and Cath and Gruff taking part on stage- The Overtones were formed following the final production of Elvis when the five members chatted about starting a band.

Since The Overtones' forming back in October 2001, the group has had a great deal of success in Wales- with a significant amount of interest coming from BBC Radio Cymru. From rugby club gigs, playing in front of Royalty to large open-air events The Overtones success is still growing, with radio airplay of their songs now becoming routine.

What now?

The question every young band is asked- the juggle of higher education and the commitments of a band on a steady incline of success- what will they do? The Overtones are confident that they will stay together and continue as a busy group regardless. With events or 'gigs' in both the near, and distant future already secured, the incoming flow of work for the band will continue as their popularity increases.

As a band, they say that they would never have thought that people would be actually phoning in to radio stations requesting their songs- its a dream that most bands take years to accomplish. Recently the band has been negociating a recording contract with the biggest Welsh language recording company, Sain, owned by Dafydd Iwan.
